Overview

Smart Valve Technology (SVT) is a smart water management solution built around connected inline devices that can be installed at homes, gyms, and other businesses. These devices give property owners far more control over how water is used by making it possible to manage flow according to practical rules such as time of day, flow duration, and other usage conditions.

To support this, the SVT portal provides a central interface where both business administrators and device owners can access the information and controls they need. It is designed to make device management simple, while also giving the client visibility into the users, devices, and operational data across the wider system.

The challenge

Water usage is often difficult to manage in a precise and proactive way, especially when it relies on manual intervention or disconnected hardware. For businesses and property owners, this can lead to unnecessary waste, limited oversight, and very little control over how and when water is being used.

At the same time, managing a growing base of connected water devices requires more than just hardware. It needs a software platform that can support user management, device administration, rule configuration, and a clear view of what is happening across the network.

The solution

We built the SVT portal as the digital management layer for the client’s smart water device offering.

The platform supports two core needs. Firstly, it gives the SVT business a way to view and manage user and device data across the system. Secondly, it allows device owners to log in and configure their own devices based on their specific requirements.

Through the portal, users are able to set up and manage the behaviour of their water management devices, including rules that control water flow according to predefined schedules or usage constraints. This gives end users practical control over their water consumption, while giving the business a scalable way to administer the broader platform.

What the platform does

The SVT portal is designed to support the day-to-day operation of a connected water management product.

For the client, it provides visibility into the users making use of the system and the devices deployed in the field. This creates a stronger operational view of the platform and makes it easier to support, monitor, and grow the product over time.

For device owners, the portal acts as the control centre for their installed units. They can manage their devices, configure rules, and tailor water flow behaviour to match the needs of a home or business environment. This might include limiting when water can flow, controlling how long it can remain active, or managing usage in a way that supports efficiency and accountability.

Value to the client

The platform has helped turn SVT’s device offering into a more complete and manageable product. Rather than only supplying hardware, the client is able to offer customers an integrated solution that combines physical devices with an online management experience.

This creates value on both sides. Customers gain more control and flexibility over their water usage, while the client benefits from a platform that improves service delivery, supports product administration, and strengthens the long-term viability of the solution.

A foundation for growth

The SVT portal was built as a practical foundation for a connected water management ecosystem. As the product grows, the platform can continue to evolve alongside it, supporting additional device capabilities, richer reporting, and more advanced management features.

That makes it more than just an admin interface. It is a core part of the product itself, helping bridge the gap between smart hardware in the field and the people who need to manage it effectively.
